Deena's Priorities

Deena is running on a platform of addressing antisemitism, promoting fiscal responsibility, and enhancing special education support . As an Orthodox Jew, she has been a vocal advocate for extending the district’s anti-hate efforts to better protect Jewish students. “Our district has made enormous investments to address racism and inequality – it’s time to extend those protections to our Jewish students,” Deena insists. She calls for tracking incidents of antisemitism and responding with education and immediate consequences so that “all students [are] safe from hate at school”.  Deena also brings a watchful eye to the budget, noting that with an annual budget over $316 million, LMSD must spend responsibly – on necessities like bus drivers and special-ed teachers – and publicly audit its spending. She emphasizes using measurable metrics to evaluate programs and cutting waste so that taxpayer funds go to what works for students. Additionally, as a healthcare professional and mother, Deena is passionate about supporting special education and ensuring the district meets the needs of “our most at-risk students” rather than forcing families into costly battles or settlements. Her blend of fiscal prudence, advocacy for inclusivity, and care for student well-being make her a strong voice for accountability and empathy on the board.
